Thank you for this site. im 17 and before i was embarressed of my body but after i found this site my self esteem shot up. ive been reading letters here for a while but im now deciding to post. today i went to my friends house to hang out, two other girls showed up and one guy. i dont remmember how the topic was brought up but i heard the guy and one of my good friends talking about big clits. my ears pricked up instantly since i would never have brought it up but was wondering what other people my age thought of it. the guy started saying all this stuff about how its ugly and the only way for a girl to get it is from a sex change. are you kidding me!? said he learnt it on the Tyra show and they belived him! i was about to correct him but then the other girls started aggreeing saying they thought it was nasty. in the end i didnt say a thing because i didnt want them to know i have what they all thought was soo weird. im mad at my self for backing out and not telling that guy he is a f-ing idiot. are most people really so uneducated about this??

feeling down and mad, JM

The evidence leads me to believe that people really are uneducated about this, and the problem seems to go deep and have many roots. First there's the general lack of half-decent sex education in public schools in the U.S. Then there's the fact that women's bodies are used and abused in advertisements and magazines. (This says nothing about the vulva in particular, but if the rest of the woman's body is supposed to be tiny...)

Speaking as a heterosexual man, I've seen plenty of vulvae, of a wide variety of shapes, colors, and sizes, and they're all beautiful.

And I thought most heterosexual men would agree with me.

Anyway, I really can't blame you for not speaking out against what your friends said about large clitorises, since it's hard to speak up when you're outnumbered. But if I were you, I'd talk to your friends individually and inform them that some women do have large clitorises, and that those women would feel extremely hurt to hear what your friends had said.

If they're still willing to listen, you might show them this website. If not... well, I wouldn't call them my friends if they weren't willing to listen to my opinion.

Hey JM!!

Please dont feel down and mad.
its all not worth it because you will come across some really uneducated people that have no idea how a real Vulva looks like and they will tend to look down on it becasue of their preconceived notions.
Just like you I have a big clit and big labia too and even though I was very ashamed of them at first,  I have come to love them alot, because they make me Unique and I'm not even going to start talking about how much fun i have while having sex :).

Im 24 now and i am loving and embrasing my uniqueness like  never before. i wish i would have known this site  or even a friend that was like me when i was a bit younger because all that would have saved me alot of negative thoughts about my vulva.

* Hugs

Ps: Just in case you need to talk just write me.

JM,

What you have described sounds like A classic case of peer pressure and adolescent ignorance.

The guy most likely said what he said out of fear of being seen as gay, as stupid as it sounds, I've actually heard Big clitorises describes as little penises. Well if that's the case then I must be just a little bit gay because I love a big fat clit I can wrap my lips around and I'm not afraid to admit it.

The other girls probably agreed because they're embarrassed to be seen as less feminine or even ugly by the guy. Even though statistically speaking, at least one of them has what he says is so ugly.

If you'd spoken up at the very start, there's a chance that the girls may have sided with you, but that isn't likely, Once they'd agreed with him the best choice was to take the opportunity to stay silent.

If you were to speak to these girls one-on-one I'll bet you'd hear a much different story from them, a couple of them may even need the reassurance. I definitely wouldn't ever mention this to him, Only experience will have a chance at changing his mind. He'll most likely say the same things to you he said in public, and may even talk about you afterwards.

One thing has me puzzled though. If he's so macho, why the fuck was he watching Tyra? I'll admit she was pretty hot in her day. But she was never hot enough for any self respecting man to subject himself to that.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Okay,

I would have added something, but my other half (tempest) already beat me to the punch and said what I likely would've said anyway.

So yeah. . .ditto on Tempest! =0)

Tempest. . .

One thing though. . .I'd have to disagree on the Tyra thing.

I watch her show, and I think she's a HOTTIE.

I'd drink Tyra's bath water!

Okay, maybe that's a little exaggeration, but I'd gladly lick her pussy though! =0)

Yeah, we can disagree on Tyra. she's fun to look at, and I can understand how one of her shows can have the affect of helping women with their self image. But mostly I don't see why a man would be watching her shows, and I doubt that the sort of things this guy claims was said, would have been expressed on her show.

I have the suspicion that my husband would actually like my clitoris to be larger! I'm just average in that department and I think my husband wishes I was more endowed there too...... to save him awkward searching!!!

Embrace what you have!
