A Boost of Self-Confidence

I first found out that my vulva wasn't "normal" when I was skinny dipping with two friends in my hot tub and one was saying she couldnt' find her hole...ever. I didn't see how that was possible so I emerged from the water, sat on the edge, and spread my legs to use my own as a "diagram". Immediately, my friend's reactions were, "What IS that?!" and I didn't understand. They, too sat on the side and displayed their vulvas as I had and I realised that mine was different from theirs. The discussion began. They said things about my labias looking like nut sacks and pondered whether or not I was a hermaphrodite. I felt incredibly insulted and was immediately worried about my body. I had never been sexually intimate and was sure that I could never be. We got out of the hot tub and went inside and began to search the web. I stumbled upon http://www.hipforums.com/ and the genetalia discussion threads. I discovered that I had what was called a long inner labia or labia minora.  

Even from that point, after discovering a few people on the forum that had the same type of vulva as I, I was still very self-conscious. I insisted on sharing photographs with a male friend of mine (whom I was interested in) to get his opinion. I was sure that he would be disgusted. He insisted that it was fine. I still continued to search the internet every once in a while for others who had long labia. I ended up feeling so self-conscious at one point that I felt depressed and disgusted with myself every day when I took a shower.  

And then I discovered this website. I read letters and found others who have not only long labia but also a protruding clit just like I do. It was a while ago that I had found this website but it was just today that I began to really explore it. I no longer feel ashamed of my vulva and I am almost proud to say that I am blessed with this wonderful gift. Thank you for creating this website and sharing the true beauty of women.
