Wow, where do I start. A while back I was watching TV with two
friends of mine; one male, one female. We were watching Beverly
Hills 90210 and the doctor was performing a labia reductions surgery
among other things. I expressed my horror at the thought of
having any non-necessary surgery on my vagina as well as the reasons
behind why a woman would want or need such a surgery and why a doctor
was advertising and actually providing this service. My male
friend replied, "why, do you have huge meat curtains?" I went
on and on about how upset I was that some plastic surgeon was making
money off of essentially genital mutilation and why a young woman, or
any woman would want one.
Because I myself have fairly large
"meat curtains" this surgery thing struck close to home and I
tended to find myself having this conversation with people on
numerous occasions and getting quite worked up about it. (I am sure
you are wondering why this would come up in polite conversation; I
have a fairly liberal and sexually open group of friends and we have
these types of discussions on a regular basis). My arguement
was and is; would any self respecting, red blooded American male
really ever turn down a woman because her vaginal lips were too big?
I think not. As my friend said, unless they are hanging
down to her knees, it probably wouldn't even be noticed. And
why should I or any woman feel bad about the way our labias look?
If someone actually said something negative, we probably were
better off without them anyway.
So, my friend sent me this
website that I have been unable to look at because I only had a work
computer. Now that I have seen this site, I felt that I needed
to write and say to everyone who cares to listen; Be proud of your
large labia! Don't let anyone tell you any different! It
is sexy, it is womanly and if you feel the need to spend money on
surgery, send it to the fund to stop genital mutilation instead.
